by tourists to ride elephants in the jungle of Chitwan national park.

| Itinerary |
|
| START:
To join the trip you need to be in Katmandu the day before the
trip starts. At 6 pm in the evening we have a pre departure
meeting that everyone has to attend in order for the group to
get organized for our trip. We can help you arrange airport
pick-up and hotel in Katmandu (not included). |
|
Day
1: We leave Katmandu, the gateway to any true Himalayan
Adventure on MTB, heading north to our put-in for rafting
or kayaking on the Trisuli river: Devi Ghat. In the morning
while it is still cool, we climb up to get our first views
of the snowcapped Himalayas. After the lunch brake we go downhill
into the Trisuli river valley. The ride will take 6-7 hours
depending a bit on your fitness level. When we arrive at the
river we can cool down with a swim, in the evening we camp
on the riverbank.
|
| Day
2-4: You choose if you want to raft or kayak for the next
few days, or do a combination of both! This section of the Trisuli
river is for all level of paddlers and we have some of the very
best expedition guides and instructors to lead you down the
river. So even if you are a complete beginner in white water
kayak you can learn as we go. Safety kayakers follow us down
the river, so there is always an option to switch places and
choose what sections you want to do in raft or kayak. If you
only want to raft on this section you will have the opportunity
to try kayaking later on your trip. For three days we continue
down the river and stop for lunch brakes on beaches, visit an
occasional village and camp on the riverbank at night. On day
four we arrive in our base camp at The Royal Beach. The Royal
Beach Camp is a tented eco-camp on the riverbank. |
| Day
5: We trek for 1½ hour from the camp to the Change
Canyon. We reach the top of a series of beautiful, untouched
waterfalls and with the help of harnesses and ropes we abseil
down through the canyon. At one point we pass through a rock
cave. We stop to eat our pick-nick lunch on a rock shelf on
the way down. A real thrill, as well as a beautiful nature experience!
We spend the night at the Camp. |
| Day
6: Raft the Trisuli River once again and punch some class
III -IV challenging white water! If you have not kayaked before
and want to try - this is your chance, then you stay in camp
and get your first lesson in white water kayaking. We spend
the night at the Royal Beach Camp. |
| Day
7: Early morning we start from the Royal Beach Camp. We
hike up the hill, going south. We walk about 5 hours to reach
the Chepang (tribe) village Hathibang. Hathibang means "Elephant
Shaped boulders" in local language. We are now at the top
of the hills and can enjoy the scenic beauty of the hills and
the mountains. Our trek goes off the beaten track, where tourists
never go. We stay in a community-operated guesthouse and get
the chance to try the tribe's local cuisine. |
|
 |
| Day
8: After breakfast and packing our backpack we head towards
Saktikhor. We hike about eight km, mostly descending into the
Chitwans plains. When we reach Saktikhor village we have lunch
and then drive to our Safari lodge just outside the Chitwan
National Park. After settling down we mount our elephant rides
that takes us to the elephant-breading center where we visit
the elephant babies and learn more about our new best friends.
We stay the night at the safari lodge. |
| Day
9: We are in Chitwan National Park! The Chitwan National
Park has been enlisted in natural World Heritage Site. It has
a particularly rich flora and fauna. One of the last populations
of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros and wild elephants lives
in the park, which is also one of the last refuges of the Bengal
tiger. In the morning we go for a canoe safari looking for the
crocodiles, after lunch we continue to explore the park in jeep,
and go for a few hours safari, looking for rhinos, tigers, elephants,
wild boars and the masses of beautiful birds living here. In
the evening we visit a Tharu village and experience their unique
culture and see them performing their special dances. We stay
the night at the safari lodge. |
| Day
10: We leave Chitwan and drive to Pokhara. We settle down
at our Pokhara hotel and in the late afternoon we go boating
on the Fewa lake. Enjoy the magnificent view of the Annapurnas
and see the sun set over the lake. We then enjoy a night out
in Pokhara! |
| Day
11: We start the morning with an early 1½-hour yoga
session. After breakfast we hike to the World Peace Stupa and
again enjoy the fantastic view of the Annapurna range to the
North and Pokhara valley down below. After lunch we continue
to Mahendra cave and David falls on the south side of the town.
